Open Sandwich
Open Sandwich
Light lunch today: An open sandwich with avocado, pastrami, tomato, basil, cream cheese and lemon on a slice of baguette. Tasted good, but did not fully satisfy my appetite, unfortunately.
obachan; What a wonderfully light lunch and perfect for a hot summer afternoon!!!!! You are so creative! Perhaps a salad would have satisfied your appetite!!!! Anyway...looks good.
Obachan, actually I would take the bento over open sandwiches any day :). I absolutely adore Japanese food, I wish we have them cheaper here in Norway. It's also very difficult to find a decent bento unless you make it yourself (over here). Just out of curiosity, how much is a typical good bento set for lunch (in yen) where you are at?
> OsloFoodie --- I know how much you love bento!! OK, around here you can get a pretty good bento (with warm rice) for less than 500 yen. The cheapest one at the nearby supermarket is 298 yen. How about that? ;)
> Hannah --- Welcome to my site and thanks for your comment :D Yeah, I was happy that I gave it a try.
> Reid --- I agree. (Or maybe it tasted good because it was only a small amount??) ;P
> OsloFoodie --- REALLY?! Gosh, that's expensive! Our real good, traditional bentos from expensive Japanese restaurants do cost that much (No. 12070 is about 4700 yen), or even more, but regular ones are a lot cheaper. Maybe I'll post about bentos sometime soon.
obachan, Around where I work in the suburb of washington dc, I found a japanese supermarket called Daruma. It makes curry udon, ramen, and all kinds of bentos. The quality is not amazing but it's the closest thing, and I love going there. Yesterday I had a sweet tasting smoked fish with fried oyster bento. Determined to go there everyday for lunch until I've tried everything on the menu! Could have fish and rice everyday! My love for Japanese food has reached all time craze...
Hi joanna, Wow, I wonder how long it'd take for you to try everything on the menu :D Sounds like you really love fish. You ought to come to Kochi someday.
obachan;

Hi Obachan,
ReplyDeleteSometimes the simplest things can taste so good. Too bad it wasn't satisfying.
