SPAM Chao Fan
SPAM Chao Fan(Fried Rice)
My lunch today. SPAM, egg, onion, green onion and rice. Can't go wrong. ;)
I used to have this all the time when I lived in Honolulu, actually for breakfast. There was a Chinese made-to-order quick-food place at the corner of Bishop and S. King Streets.... 懐かしいです!
Wow! :0 I'm totally amazed! What a sheltered life...first spam musubi, now spam fried rice. What else besides spam and eggs is there? Who will take the IRON CHEF SPAM CHALLENGE?
Made healthier Chao fan for breakfast? Wow! I can never fully awake to be able to toss and turn the rice and other ingredients so vigorously. Hahaha... Did you use long grain rice or short grain rice?
Lannae "Soul food?!" SPAM? Mmmm... I don't know what to say...
K & S Just from curiosity -- when you make fried rice at home in Hawaii, do you use long grain rice or short grain?
Cocogirl Hormel foods should thank me for being this influential. ;P
Cocopuff1212 Another person who had SPAM fried rice for breakfast! :O My mom used to make fried rice for lunch on Sundays, and when we went to Chinese restaurant, it was always at night, so I've never associated fried rice with breakfast. (But I think I did have leftover fried rice for breakfast a couple of times when I was in the U.S.)
Joanna You bet! :D
Rei OK. So far we have covered Japan (omusubi) and China (fried rice). Maybe a Korean style SPAM dish next? ;) Anyone?

K & S and Made healthier Thanks. I have seen some photos of fried rice served at Japanese restaurants in Hawaii, and the rice used looked like long grain rice. So I had been wondering if it's popular to use that kind of rice when making fried rice at home, too. :)

ReplyDeleteHi Obachan,
